23rd Feb Workshop
Today we all had a workshop in person to discuss on a few topics:
Values
a) What value/s in Art & Design education?
b) How do we (or can we) practice those values?
c)How do we inscribe those values into the curriculum?
d) Above all, ask “What does this mean for my daily pedagogical encounters?“
Sustainability:
How do we reclaim the buzzword, and what can we we do with it?
Evaluation in Art and Design:
What is evaluation for? What should it be for, and how can we implement that?
Values

How do we (or can we) practice those values?
Stainability
Use of materials, what the students get out the end of there degrees. Organize and Structure course units around this.
Diversity
Identify diverse teaching and use of artefacts and cultural backgrounds in work.
Terminology have different meaning for different things in different country. for example Theatre Terminology is different in the uk than the rest of the world.
Equality
To show emotion to the students
Understand there background
Listen to what they have to say.
Stainability
Stainability is not just about the materials that you use it is about the purpose of the work you are doing in terms of value and cost and time. is the outcome sustainable to make it worth while.
This is a big dissussion in our department about props and the use of props. props are needed in performance to enhance the performances. we was told that the props store needed to go as was taking up space that was needed. so we thrown a lots of things out. but now we have no space to keep any props but we keep buying new items for shows the big question is do we keep it or throw or give it away after we have used it.
Evaluation
As a technician don’t get involved with evaluation. Which is a plain as I don’t know what the outcome is for the student so can help them in the right direction. I guess we can look at the units brief to get an understanding of what is required. but i sometimes dont understand what it is all about.
