Assessment And Feedback

Having to write a case study about Assessments and Feedback and not having done one before i decided to do a bit of research into what is assessments and feedbacks are. i came across this website https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/staff/elevate/essentials/assessment-feedback-1 from The University of Sheffield.

This page contains essential guidance on formative and summative assessment, and different formats of assessment you could use, along with helpful hints and tips of where to start.

Summery of Formative Assessment And Summative assessmnet

So These Assessments are a good way for you and the student to understand their learning outcomes. and give the opportunities to give and receive feedback. this will help with the effectiveness of the teaching. i feel that I have a sub conscience feedback when im with the students so that can know that they are building knowledge and also push them to improve their learning to make great work.

Types of Assessment

There are many different ways to do assessments. it seems as long as it is relevent to the unit of work you can choose the way that you assess the students. in term for performance i think the best way to assess the stutdents work would be the shows to see their performances also for them to make a portfolio of the work that they have done. For something that they can take with them to interviews in later life. Developing a website for themselves with all the Projects they have done with videos and photos could be an intresting way to assess the work.

Principles of Feedback

  1. Student engagement with feedback is promoted. A formative approach and ongoing dialogue with students will motivate them to engage with feedback.
  2. Feedback is for learning. Students will be able to apply and reflect on feedback to improve their current and future performance.
  3. Feedback is clearly communicated to students. Students will know what kind(s) of feedback they will receive and when it will be available to them.
  4. Feedback is timely. Students will receive regular feedback throughout modules, timed to help with final assessments.
  5. Feedback is consistently delivered. Feedback will be accessible and consistent, and relate to assessment criteria and learning outcomes.
  6. Feedback quality is maintained. Staff will receive support with issues such as curriculum design to ensure feedback is prioritised and effective.

The Feedback that i give the students is what i would say is more advice. for example: I would tell the students how I would do things differently what they need to use to make something and how I would make it. I would give the students encouragement on their work. Also if the student’s need my help with anything I would offer my support. We will talk about projects that I’ve done in the past. What I’ve seen and what other students have done over the years. I would give little tips and tricks to achieve what they are trying to accomplish in a more simple affordable way. If that is in set building or lighting or projection.
